The Influence of Play-Based Learning Approaches on Social Development of Preschoolers in Nigeria and Selected ECOWAS Member States
Abstract
This study investigates the subject matter outlined in the title above through a structured research design appropriate to its academic level. Using primary and/or secondary data collection methods, the research examines the underlying variables, tests relevant hypotheses, and presents findings with implications for practice and policy. This is placeholder abstract text generated for catalogue preview purposes; the full document contains a complete, topic-specific abstract, literature review, methodology, data analysis, and conclusion.
Chapter One — 1.1 Background to the Study
In recent years, Play-Based Learning Approaches has emerged as a critical factor shaping social development of preschoolers across organizations operating in and around Nigeria and Selected ECOWAS Member States. As institutions grapple with the pressures of globalization, regulatory reform, and shifting stakeholder expectations, understanding how play-based learning approaches relates to social development of preschoolers has become an important area of both scholarly and practical concern.
Nigeria and Selected ECOWAS Member States presents a useful setting for examining this relationship precisely because the conditions there — structural, regulatory, and behavioural — differ from those typically assumed in the broader literature, most of which draws on evidence from more developed economies.
1.2 Statement of the Problem
Despite a growing body of literature on play-based learning approaches, there remains limited consensus on the precise nature of its relationship with social development of preschoolers, particularly within Nigeria and Selected ECOWAS Member States. Many organizations continue to make decisions about play-based learning approaches without a clear, evidence-based understanding of how those decisions ultimately affect social development of preschoolers. This gap between practice and empirical understanding is the central problem this study seeks to address.
1.3 Objectives of the Study
- To examine the effect of Play-Based Learning Approaches on social development of preschoolers in Nigeria and Selected ECOWAS Member States.
- To assess the extent to which play-based learning approaches influences social development of preschoolers within the study area.
- To identify the challenges associated with play-based learning approaches in relation to social development of preschoolers.
- To recommend strategies for optimizing play-based learning approaches in order to improve social development of preschoolers.
1.4 Research Questions
- What is the effect of play-based learning approaches on social development of preschoolers in Nigeria and Selected ECOWAS Member States?
- To what extent does play-based learning approaches influence social development of preschoolers within the study area?
- What challenges are associated with play-based learning approaches in relation to social development of preschoolers?
- What strategies can be adopted to optimize play-based learning approaches in order to improve social development of preschoolers?
1.5 Significance of the Study
This study is significant to a range of stakeholders. For policymakers and regulators, the findings offer evidence to guide the design of frameworks that support healthier outcomes around social development of preschoolers. For managers and practitioners within Nigeria and Selected ECOWAS Member States, the study provides practical insight into how play-based learning approaches can be better managed. Finally, it contributes to the academic literature on early childhood education by extending existing knowledge into a specific empirical context, and offers a reference point for future researchers.
1.6 Scope of the Study
In terms of scope, this study confines itself to Nigeria and Selected ECOWAS Member States, focusing specifically on how play-based learning approaches relates to social development of preschoolers within that setting. Findings are interpreted within these boundaries rather than as universal claims applicable to every organization or market.
