The Moderating Role of Community-Based Rehabilitation on Quality of Life of the Elderly in Lagos State
Abstract
This MSc study investigates the subject matter outlined in the title above through a structured research design appropriate to the MSc level. Using primary and/or secondary data collection methods, the research examines the underlying variables, tests relevant hypotheses, and presents findings with implications for practice and policy. This is placeholder abstract text generated for catalogue preview purposes; the full document contains a complete, topic-specific abstract, literature review, methodology, data analysis, and conclusion.
Chapter One — 1.1 Background to the Study
Over the past decade, the relationship between community-based rehabilitation and quality of life of the elderly has become a subject of considerable debate among scholars and industry practitioners alike, particularly within the context of Lagos State where operating conditions differ markedly from more developed markets.
Within the context of Lagos State, this relationship carries particular significance. Organizations in this setting operate under a distinct combination of economic, regulatory, and market conditions that may amplify or dampen the effect of community-based rehabilitation on quality of life of the elderly, making a context-specific inquiry both timely and necessary.
1.2 Statement of the Problem
While community-based rehabilitation is widely discussed in policy and industry circles, empirical evidence on its actual effect on quality of life of the elderly within Lagos State remains sparse and, in places, contradictory. This lack of localized, rigorous evidence makes it difficult for decision-makers to know with confidence whether current approaches to community-based rehabilitation are helping or hindering quality of life of the elderly — a gap this study sets out to close.
1.3 Objectives of the Study
- To examine the effect of Community-Based Rehabilitation on quality of life of the elderly in Lagos State.
- To assess the extent to which community-based rehabilitation influences quality of life of the elderly within the study area.
- To identify the challenges associated with community-based rehabilitation in relation to quality of life of the elderly.
- To recommend strategies for optimizing community-based rehabilitation in order to improve quality of life of the elderly.
1.4 Research Questions
- What is the effect of community-based rehabilitation on quality of life of the elderly in Lagos State?
- To what extent does community-based rehabilitation influence quality of life of the elderly within the study area?
- What challenges are associated with community-based rehabilitation in relation to quality of life of the elderly?
- What strategies can be adopted to optimize community-based rehabilitation in order to improve quality of life of the elderly?
1.5 Significance of the Study
Beyond its academic contribution to the field of social work, this study has practical value for management teams within Lagos State seeking to understand how community-based rehabilitation translates into measurable outcomes around quality of life of the elderly. It is equally useful to students and future researchers looking for a localized empirical reference on this relationship.
1.6 Scope of the Study
The study is limited to an examination of Community-Based Rehabilitation and its relationship with quality of life of the elderly within the context of Lagos State. It reflects a MSc-level scope of analysis and relies on data and perspectives available within that scope; generalizing the findings beyond this specific context should therefore be done with appropriate caution.
