The Application of User-Centered Design Methodology in Enhancing Navigation Efficiency in E-Commerce Platforms
Abstract
This BSc study investigates the subject matter outlined in the title above through a structured research design appropriate to the BSc level. Using primary and/or secondary data collection methods, the research examines the underlying variables, tests relevant hypotheses, and presents findings with implications for practice and policy. This is placeholder abstract text generated for catalogue preview purposes; the full document contains a complete, topic-specific abstract, literature review, methodology, data analysis, and conclusion.
Chapter One — 1.1 Background to the Study
The rapid evolution of User-Centered Design Methodology has transformed the way organizations design, deploy, and manage e-commerce platforms. As institutions seek to modernize legacy processes, User-Centered Design Methodology offers new opportunities to improve service delivery, reduce manual overhead, and respond more effectively to user needs.
In practice, however, adoption of user-centered design methodology within e-commerce platforms has been uneven, and its actual impact on navigation efficiency is not yet well understood in a rigorous, evaluable way — a gap this study is positioned to address.
1.2 Statement of the Problem
Existing approaches to navigation efficiency within e-commerce platforms remain largely reactive and fragmented, with little systematic use of user-centered design methodology despite its demonstrated value elsewhere. This study addresses the resulting gap by designing and evaluating a solution built specifically around user-centered design methodology.
1.3 Objectives of the Study
- To design and implement a user-centered design methodology-based approach to improving navigation efficiency in e-commerce platforms.
- To evaluate the effectiveness of User-Centered Design Methodology in enhancing navigation efficiency within e-commerce platforms.
- To identify the key requirements and constraints relevant to deploying user-centered design methodology in this context.
- To assess user and stakeholder perception of the resulting system.
1.4 Research Questions
- How can user-centered design methodology be applied to improve navigation efficiency in e-commerce platforms?
- How effective is User-Centered Design Methodology at enhancing navigation efficiency within e-commerce platforms?
- What requirements and constraints are relevant to deploying user-centered design methodology in this context?
- How do users and stakeholders perceive the resulting system?
1.5 Significance of the Study
Beyond its immediate technical contribution, this study offers value to organizations evaluating whether to invest in user-centered design methodology for their own e-commerce platforms, and contributes to the broader literature on applied UI/UX design by documenting a concrete implementation and evaluation case.
1.6 Scope of the Study
The study is limited to the design, implementation, and evaluation of a user-centered design methodology-based approach to improving navigation efficiency within e-commerce platforms. Reflecting its BSc-level scope, it does not extend to a full commercial rollout or long-term post-implementation review beyond the study period.
