Evaluating the Role of Information Architecture Design in Perceived Usability within Ride-Hailing Applications
Abstract
This PhD study investigates the subject matter outlined in the title above through a structured research design appropriate to the PhD level. Using primary and/or secondary data collection methods, the research examines the underlying variables, tests relevant hypotheses, and presents findings with implications for practice and policy. This is placeholder abstract text generated for catalogue preview purposes; the full document contains a complete, topic-specific abstract, literature review, methodology, data analysis, and conclusion.
Chapter One — 1.1 Background to the Study
Organizations that depend on ride-hailing applications are under increasing pressure to modernize, and Information Architecture Design has emerged as one of the more promising avenues for doing so, given its demonstrated impact in related domains.
Despite this potential, many existing ride-hailing applications were not originally designed with information architecture design in mind, resulting in persistent gaps in perceived usability that limit their overall effectiveness. This study examines how Information Architecture Design can be applied to help close that gap.
1.2 Statement of the Problem
Current ride-hailing applications in many organizations struggle with inadequate perceived usability, often relying on manual processes or outdated architectures that were not designed for today's operating environment. Without a structured approach to integrating information architecture design, these limitations are likely to persist, exposing organizations to inefficiency, risk, and a poor user experience. This study is motivated by the need to design and evaluate a information architecture design-based approach to addressing this problem.
1.3 Objectives of the Study
- To design and implement a information architecture design-based approach to improving perceived usability in ride-hailing applications.
- To evaluate the effectiveness of Information Architecture Design in enhancing perceived usability within ride-hailing applications.
- To identify the key requirements and constraints relevant to deploying information architecture design in this context.
- To assess user and stakeholder perception of the resulting system.
1.4 Research Questions
- How can information architecture design be applied to improve perceived usability in ride-hailing applications?
- How effective is Information Architecture Design at enhancing perceived usability within ride-hailing applications?
- What requirements and constraints are relevant to deploying information architecture design in this context?
- How do users and stakeholders perceive the resulting system?
1.5 Significance of the Study
This study is significant to software developers and system architects seeking practical guidance on applying Information Architecture Design within ride-hailing applications. It is equally relevant to organizations that rely on these systems, offering a reference point for evaluating whether such an investment is justified, and it adds to the growing body of work on information architecture design applications in UI/UX design.
1.6 Scope of the Study
The study is limited to the design, implementation, and evaluation of a information architecture design-based approach to improving perceived usability within ride-hailing applications. Reflecting its PhD-level scope, it does not extend to a full commercial rollout or long-term post-implementation review beyond the study period.
